Not all phlebotomy jobs center around taking blood for analysis of disease. In fact many jobs can be in the research field. Medical articles and new practices and procedures are also readily available too. So it is much more than an accreditation body, it is a way to keep a handle on changes in the medicine field and update skills on a continual basis at minimum cost.
You may be aware of drives to encourage people to donate blood and this is a field that always requires good personnel, therefore, you may easily find phlebotomy jobs in this field. This can be a good stepping-stone and a field of experience, as you will be faced with many challenges. As you may be in a different area each day with mobile blood banks, you should be prepared to travel for phlebotomy jobs in this field, as the distance can be quite a way from your home. Alternatively, there may be a permanent blood bank that you are based at.
As with all phlebotomy jobs, you will not be responsible for analyzing any blood. You will only be responsible for the procedures involved in taking the blood ready to be transported to the medical facilities for use in emergencies or routine operations. You will also have to ensure that you adhere to guidelines and practices laid down by the medical institute, and this includes disposing of used needles in the appropriate manner. There is always a shortage of blood and that is why this is a good area to look for employment. At the same time you will get great job satisfaction and meet lots of new and interesting people. Career advancement in phlebotomy jobs is excellent, and this also comes with a salary that commensurate with the responsibility, experience and tenure.
