All professionals and students that want to advance their studies can explore different phlebotomy scholarships as sources for educational expenses funding. There are different associations that offer you such a possibility and you might want to check with them in order to take a step further in your career. Most of these will have some eligibility criteria that you must meet, but they are worth a second look.

AMT American Medical Technologists

AMT offers scholarships that support students that are enrolled in allied health programs. The selection criteria for awards include extra-curricular activities, academic performance, writing skills and financial needs. The award is $500 and every single year there are 5 AMT scholarships. An extra outstanding student award is also offered. In this case the amount is $250 and there are also some technical writing awards that range from $135 to $200.

AAB American Association of Bioanalysts

AAB offers aid for different phlebotomy students via the special David Birenbaum Scholarship Fund. The selection criteria include financial needs, scholastic achievements and community service. Applicants need to submit two letters in support of their character and they need to be members of AAB. The strict minimum requirement in order to be awarded the phlebotomy scholarship is the high school diploma.

ASAHP Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions

ASAHP offers scholarships that will recognize those students that are performing really well in academic programs and that show leadership role potential in allied health professions. The applicants that are successful will receive $1,000. The selection criteria will include leadership capabilities, communication skills, unique achievements and community service. You will not find financial need listed in the list of criteria and all students have to be enrolled in schools that are linked to ASAHP or a degree-granting program. In addition, at least one semester, quarter or term needs to have been completed at the time of the application.

ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology

ASCP does help out a lot in supporting medical laboratory professionals. This is an association that offers different $500 scholarships to applicants that qualify. The students have to be enrolled in phlebotomy programs and they have to go through an approval process. Approved programs are only those that were accredited by NAACLS, by the Individual State Departments of Health Sciences and programs that meet special eligibility requirements that are established by the Board of Certification. It should be noted that recent graduates can also apply for these awards if they have graduated in the past nine months. Selection criteria include community activity participation, professional goals and leadership skills. All applications have to include a written essay to support them.

The phlebotomy scholarships mentioned above will be very helpful and stand out as great for all students and professionals. This is especially true in the event that you are faced with money problems, as a part of the cost associated with extra schooling is reduced. There are, of course, other scholarships available at the moment but the ones mentioned above are those that you want to look at first.
